Oral hygiene Maintenance
The three most effective things you can do to maintain healthy, attractive teeth are brushing, flossing and regular visits to your dentist. At Cosmopolitan Dental, our primary focus is on prevention—preserving your natural teeth and the health of your gums and jawbone.
At every checkup, one of our dental hygienists will give you a thorough and gentle teeth cleaning. Dr Woolridge-Ofori will then meet with you to evaluate the condition of your teeth and mouth. As part of your routine health maintenance, we will take periodic digital X-rays and intraoral pictures to detect cavities, tiny cracks in your teeth and any hidden problems that could cause further damage.
If we discover potential dental problems, we will review them with you and answer any questions you have. We will carefully go over the options we recommend for treatment—what is involved and what each option will cost. Our goal is to catch problems before they become painful or costly and treat you with the most effective and affordable solutions.
Advanced Diagnostics
Many of the problems that originate in your teeth or mouth can not be detected with the human eye. When left untreated, they can affect your overall health as well as your teeth.
Our practice uses digital radiography and an intraoral camera to get the clearest images of your teeth and underlying tissues in less time and with up to a tenth less radiation than traditional x-rays. By using digital radiography, we also avoid using film and hazardous chemicals that pollute the environment.
In addition to cavities and cracks, we look for infections in the bone, abscesses, tumors and developmental problems (such as insufficient space for a tooth to emerge). We can review digital images together on the video monitors in each of our examining rooms. This makes it much easier to explain our findings and treatment recommendations.
